The 2010 President’s Budget for the Bureau of Labor Statistics

On December 16, 2009, President Obama signed into law the 2010 Consolidated Appropriations Act. The Act provides $611.4 million in funding to the Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS) for the 2010 fiscal year that began on October 1, 2009. This funding level is $0.2 million less than the President requested.

The 2010 level of funding will enable BLS to meet its highest priority goals and objectives during 2010. Specifically, it includes funds to produce new series on green jobs, addressing the need for detailed data on these rapidly evolving industries and occupations. A general description of the initiative is provided below. More information will be posted on the BLS website later this spring.
