John W. Ruser serves as Associate Commissioner for the Office of Productivity and Technology. From 2006 until March 2012, Mr. Ruser served as Assistant Commissioner for Occupational Safety and Health Statistics. Between 2002 and 2006, he was the Associate Director for Regional Economics at the Bureau of Economic Analysis.
Mr. Ruser joined BLS in 1984 as a research economist in the Office of Economic Research. He moved to the Office of Compensation and Working Conditions in 1995 to head the Compensation Research and Program Development Group, overseeing research on wages, compensation, and worker safety and health.
He received a B.A. in Economics from Princeton University and M.A. and Ph.D. degrees in Economics from the University of Chicago.
