Compensation costs increased 0.6 percent for civilian workers, seasonally adjusted, from
June 2015 to September 2015. Over the year, compensation rose 2.0 percent, wages and
salaries are up 2.1 percent, and benefits rose 1.8 percent.

Private industry employers spent an average of $31.39 per hour worked for employee compensation in June
2015. Wages and salaries averaged $21.82, and benefits averaged $9.56, of which retirement and savings plans
averaged $1.24 per hour worked.
