Establishment Survey Data

Each month the Current Employment Statistics program surveys about 140,000 businesses and government agencies, representing approximately 410,000 individual worksites, in order to provide detailed industry data on employment, hours, and earnings of workers on nonfarm payrolls for all 50 States, the District of Columbia, Puerto Rico, the Virgin Islands, and about 400 metropolitan areas and divisions.

State and Metro Area Employment, Hours, & Earnings

The tables presented below include data from the Current Employment Statistics program at the State and Metropolitan Area geographic detail. For more information regarding data concepts, methodology, and reliability of estimates, please see Chapter 2 of the BLS Handbook of Methods. Note Regarding September 2013 Tables

Due to the partial federal government shutdown from October 1 through October 16, BLS did not publish the CES State and Area Employment and Earnings tables for September 2013. Final September employment and hours and earnings data are published with October preliminary data on Tables D1-D6. Final August data are available through the Employment, Hours, and Earnings ? State and Metro Area LABSTAT database.
