Regional and state unemployment rates were little changed in October. Thirty-eight states had unemployment rate decreases from a year earlier, 10 states and the District of Columbia had increases, and 2 states had no change.

Thirteen states had statistically significant unemployment rate changes from October 2012, all of which were declines. The largest of these occurred in Florida (-1.5 percentage points), followed by California and North Carolina (-1.4 points each).
