Workers in the Iowa City Metropolitan Statistical Area had an average (mean) hourly wage of $22.54 in May 2013, compared to the nationwide average of $22.33.

Alternative Measures of Labor Underutilization, Iowa – 2013

In 2013, the broadest measure of labor underutilization, designated U-6 (which includes the unemployed, workers employed part time for economic reasons, and those marginally attached to the labor force), was 9.2 percent in Iowa, down from 10.0 percent in 2012.

Consumer Price Index, Midwest Region – April 2015

The Consumer Price Index for All Urban Consumers (CPI-U) in the Midwest registered little movement in April (0.1 percent), following an increase of 0.6 percent in March, the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics reported today.
