The Standard Occupational Classification (SOC) System Manual 2010

The 2010 SOC manual presents the occupational structure showing the different levels of aggregation (Major Group, Minor Group, Broad Occupation, Detailed Occupation), occupational titles, definitions, and illustrative examples of job titles found in an occupation. The manual includes the classification principles and coding guidelines, and provides information on what’s new in the 2010 SOC, a description of the SOC revision process, and a section of Frequently Asked Questions.

The 2010 SOC manual is available to the public from the U.S. Department of Commerce National Technical Information Service. Corrections to the first printing of the 2010 SOC manual appear in this errata sheet (PDF).
