2006 Eating & Health Module Microdata Files

This page includes links to the 2006 ATUS Eating & Health (EH) Module microdata files and supporting documentation. Researchers can use the EH microdata files to produce their own estimates or do other analyses. Each ZIP file contains a data file along with computer programs that will read the data file into SAS, SPSS, and Stata. The data files are in CSV-format (comma-separated values).

The microdata files do not contain estimates. Tables showing estimates are available from the U.S. Department of Agriculture's Economic Research Service, a sponsor of the EH Module.

ATUS EH Module Data Dictionary

• ATUS Eating & Health Module Data Dictionary (PDF) Describes the EH Respondent, EH Child and EH Activity files, and includes names and descriptions of the variables appearing on these files.

UPDATED 2006 ATUS EH Module Data Files

• ATUS 2006 EH Respondent file (zip) (0.4 MB) The EH Respondent file contains information about EH respondents, including general health and body mass index.

  UPDATED - Several variables were added to the EH Respondent file on February 11, 2009. EREATAD and ERDRKAD are related to secondary eating and secondary drinking. The remaining variables provide respondent-level information about breakfasts and lunches obtained at school. See the ATUS Eating & Health Module Data Dictionary (PDF) for more details.

• ATUS 2006 EH Child file (zip) (0.03 MB) THe EH Child file contains information about which household children under age 19 ate a breakfast or lunch prepared at a school, day care, Head Start center, or summer day program.
• ATUS 2006 EH Activity file (zip) (0.5 MB) The EH Activity file contains information such as the activity number, whether secondary eating occurred during the activity, and the duration of secondary eating.
• ATUS 2006 EH Replicate weights file (zip) (16.1 MB) The EH Replicate weights file contains miscellaneous EH weights.
