To calculate injury and illness incidence rates for your company and compare your rates to the overall national rate for your industry or your State’s incidence rate for your industry, Click on the Databases and Tables tab.
Click on the Calculators link, and then click on the Injury and Illness Calculator icon.
This page allows the user to create a comparison report in 4 easy steps:
Step 1. Enter the hours worked at your establishment. If you need help with this, click on the "where to find this number" link. We’ll use 200,000 hours.
Step 2. Enter you total number of record able cases, the number of cases with one or more days away from work, and the number of cases involving job transfer or restricted work activity.
If you need help with any of these, click on the corresponding "where to find this number" link. In this example, we’ll use 5, 7, and 2 respectively.
Step 3. Select the year, geographic Area, NAICS supersector, and NAICS industry. NAICS is the North American Industry Classification System.
Step 4. Get your results. Click on the "Calculate" button.
The resulting table contains three sections. The top section describes the specific BLS data you retrieved. The middle section shows your establishment’s rates based on the data that you entered in Step 1 and Step 2 as well as the data for the year, area, and Industry you requested in Step 3.
The bottom section describes the data that you have extracted.
Using the BACK button you can return to the previous page and change the entries to repeat the process for another establishment or compare to a different year, industry, or area.
